Our Story
Adjay and Sophia met in one of the UK’s most romantic spots - a crowded Grey College Bar, during Durham University’s 2016 Freshers’ Week.
Very quickly, a love story started to unfold… between Adjay, and his best man, Tim (pictured).
Living together in the same block of dorms, and being in the same core friend group, Adjay and Sophia ended up spending almost all of their time together from very early on. Adjay even met Deanna, Ken, and Ava Katz only a couple of months after first meeting Sophia! Of course, Ken did immediately make a mean joke about the ugly Christmas sweater that Adjay was wearing, but it went well otherwise.
Since then, Adjay and Sophia have had lots of fun on adventures around the world.
From skiing with the Mistrys (and Tim, obviously) in Switzerland and France…
To hiking at Machu Picchu in Peru…
To watching the sunset from the Acropolis of Athens…
To taking cooking classes in Thailand!
You may have noticed that Adjay’s hair color also started changing at some point during that time, with the craziest color so far being hot pink. It started as a COVID-lockdown thing, and just stuck!
In addition to all the traveling, eating, and pink hair, there have also been some major personal milestones! Namely, graduating from university together,
becoming homeowners,
and welcoming a sleepy new addition to the Mistry-Katz family, Tella (named after the gelato, stracciatella).
And more recently, adding another less sleepy, more bitey, even smaller addition to the family! Mico - which (sticking with the Italian food theme) is short for balsamico.
You could probably also say that getting engaged on beautiful Naithon Beach in Phuket was a major milestone too, but you can see plenty of photos of that on the website’s homepage.
We love Thailand, and we’re really looking forward to having all of our friends and family together to celebrate in such a beautiful, fun place! We’re very grateful that our lives have ended up the way they have, and we’re excited to share it all with you (and party it up!) in February.
